Nestled in a beautiful wooded valley near Bodmin Moor, this is a holiday site that offers a selection of accommodation styles, plus a fully equipped, designated camping and caravan area – you choose which you prefer.

If a holiday with a roof over your head is what you’re looking for then there is a choice from 8 timber cabins, 4 Cedar wood bungalows, 3 static holiday caravans, all fully equipped for self-catering. For the more adventurous, there are wigwams or camping huts. The touring caravan and camping area has 26 pitches, 6 of which have electric hook-up; there is a designated campers’ shower and toilet block ‘ with solar hot water – and laundry facilities.

We believe having space is a right, not a luxury, so you will find all the accommodation areas, including the camping pitches, are designed to create ‘a little world of your own’ amongst friends.

We offer a holiday experience where you can get in touch with nature and the wildlife; a centrally based haven from where you can enjoy what Cornwall has to offer. It’s ideal for families (there is an unsupervised play area for the children), groups of friends and couples who wish to stay where there is no bar, no disco and no bingo! However, we do have an on-site shop for basic groceries, locally sourced produce, ice-creams/confectionery, a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks plus camping gas and equipment.

Lodges

Set amongst the trees our eight lodges blend perfectly into their natural surroundings. They provide a good level of comfort and warmth throughout the year, with the advantage of a covered walkway and veranda. All lodges are two bed roomed, plus a sofa bed in the lounge, sleeping up to 4 adults and 2 children. There is a well equipped kitchen/diner, and bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Guests will also find a comfortable lounge with colour TV. Cots, high chairs are available on request.

The veranda has a picnic table which allows eating alfresco. All bed linen (duvets and pillows) is provided. Varying holiday lengths can be accommodated, including one week, fortnights (or longer), as well as short breaks and ten night stays.

Wigwams – Glamping!

Camping just got a whole lot easier not to mention glamorous! Sleeping up to 5 adults Wigwams are the ultimate eco cabin – double-glazed, secure and lockable, cosy and warm whatever the time of year.

Ruthern Valley Wigwans offer a convenient alternative to the tent but retain all the ambiance of the ‘camping holiday’. Set in designated areas within the site, the Ruthern Valley Wigwams have a number of benefits for the visitor:

Ready and waiting for you – no need to put up or take down wet tents!
More privacy and security than a tent.
A deck for sunbathing, dining and chilling out.
A guaranteed dry refuge should the weather get a little damp.
Built-in beds, a fridge, kettle and microwave add convenience, and an electric heater gives a little extra comfort if the weather ever gets the better of the super-cosy lambs wool insulation in the Wigwams (been good even down to -6 so far!!)

Camping Pods

Camping Pods sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children, a fantastic wooden tent to keep you warm and dry – you do need to bring all your camping gear except the tent, they are not equipped. Outside they have wooden decks to sit out on, cook and enjoy your surroundings.

Camping Pods offer a convenient alternative to the tent but retain all the ambiance of the ‘camping holiday’. Set in designated areas within the site, the Camping Huts have a number of benefits for the visitor:

Camping

A strong desire to avoid the rigidity of row upon row of tents and touring caravans means that we limit the number of pitches to 26, spread over 4 designated camping areas:

The Main Field is a tree lined field just over an acre in size and has 16 pitches, 6 of which have electrical hook-up facilities.

Ideal for tents The Wood and the First Fairing have 4 pitches and the End Field has 2 pitches shared with 2 camping huts.

The site has a campers’ shower and toilet block with solar and gas hot water supply; Washing up area, laundry facilities with washing machines, tumble driers and ironing equipment provided.

No dogs are allowed on the camping fields.

As Ruthern Valley Holidays is so centrally located in the heart of Cornwall, it offers a multitude of places to visit and experience, all of which are in reasonable driving distance.

Beaches. We are 10 miles from the north and south coasts and all their beach-based activities; whether for sunbathing, surfing and sandcastles or for more adventurous pursuits such as kite surfing and sea kayaking; many of the bays have schools for novices and those who wish to improve their techniques.
