Green Man Wildglamping Yurt Retreat

Welcome to Green Man Wildglamping, waiting to offer our warm hospitality in the lush green hills of central Portugal, a land of wonderful treasures, both natural and man-made.
We offer very authentic and comfortable yurts complete with their own verandas and kitchens – right on the sunny side of a wooded valley. Our gardens are home to a rich selection of flora and fauna with many fruit and nut trees, wildflowers and herbs too.
We are open all year and are a marvelous option for a short winter break – we make the yurts very cozy and exotic, or, for a longer adventurous holiday during the hotter months, our yurts offer a true retreat to natures treasures.
Naturally, all are welcome to our little retreat and we will do our best to cater for couples, singles, families and groups alike, and will try our very best to make you welcome and feel at home, for what is – for many – a very special first time “glamping”experience.

At The Green Man Wildglamping Retreat, our principle ethic and focus is on the balance of offering a truly comfortable safari style experience and at the same time maintaining and encouraging the surrounding gardens wildlife and plant life, both rich and diverse.
Our yurts and other amenities are all wooden and built with as little impact on the environment as possible, thereby helping the continuing harmony within our landscape.
The yurts themselves are spacious, light and airy and of the traditional Mongolian “ger” style – with roof window – and are adjoined with a canvas covered raised deck on which you will find a small but well equipped kitchen and dining area – including refrigerator!
Inside the yurts we keep up the natural rustic style with authentic beds and furniture, most of which is handmade on-site, and a mix of textiles both local and ethnic as our wish is to be as natural as possible with our use of materials as we believe this only adds to the calming and exotic ambience that we are trying to achieve.
These yurts are a truly relaxing home from which to set out and discover the wonders this less trodden corner of Portugal has to offer!

Things to Do & The Area

The main activity at our little retreat is of course to relax and unwind, but there are plenty of wonderful and fascinating places to visit!
There are several lovely river beaches to discover as well as waterfalls, caves and old stone villages. With luck, you may spot some of the rich wildlife that inhabits our area, such as deer, wild boar, eagles and buzzards, as well as many amphibians and insects.
There is much in the way of history and culture too, the old city of Coimbra, with its central narrow lanes leading past ancient churches, cathedrals and Roman forums to the famous university that Coimbra is know for, as well as its own style of Fado music.
There are a number of World Heritage sites within easy driving distance, including the intriguing the Convent of Tomar with its Knights Templar history, the huge pilgramage site of Fatima, as well as the stunning Roman mosaics of Conimbriga, to name but a few.
