Yurtcamp Devon is the ultimate glamorous camping, or ‘glamping’, experience for those who seek the simplicity of living under canvas without giving up the quality and comfort of more conventional holidays.
We have twenty contemporary yurts of two sizes set in forty acres of beautiful Devon woodland. The smaller ones are ideal for couples and the larger ones ideal for up to six to accommodate family and friends.
Each yurt has a log burner and is fully equipped for cooking, sleeping and relaxing in and has its own outdoor fire pit offering the facility for barbeques.
“The lovely yurts, the fire pits, the really comfortable bed, the café bar and the helpfulness of everyone exceeded all our expectations”.
Most of our yurts are sited in small groups offering a pleasant village atmosphere whilst allowing guests their own space. But for those seeking more solitude, we have yurts sited remotely in a tranquil woodland setting. Our yurts are designed and manufactured by us to a very high standard giving a fresher and spacious version of the more traditional models. With their beautiful, large glazed domes they are light and airy, giving the feeling of being part of the great outdoors.
On site we have two farm animal pens, a games field, a zip wire, a woodland adventure course, a tennis court and children’s play areas plus our excellent café bar, The Woodland Café, serving a wide variety of food and drink from breakfast through to dinner.
What is it like staying in a Contemporary Yurt? The simple answer is just imagine taking all of the best bits of camping and losing all of the not so good bits. A Contemporary Yurt is a bright, spacious circular structure consisting of a wooden frame with a lattice wall, a durable, insulated and waterproof fabric cover and a solid locking door. Although generally classified as a tent, a Contemporary Yurt is far more spacious, much stronger and weather tight. Inside you will find high quality fittings and furniture and a log burner for warmth along with all the cooking facilities you will need. You can walk around the yurt on a solid wooden floor without stooping and sleep in a full size bed, king size in our large yurts! The Contemporary Yurt is topped by a five foot diameter skylight dome. Imagine how special it is to go to bed looking at the stars and waking up in the morning to a blue sky as the dome floods the yurt with natural light.
“The yurt was so special”
Both children and adults alike greatly enjoy the walks in the Yurtcamp’s forty acres of woodland where many species of wildlife live. Magnificent birds of prey are easily spotted and you may even see a resident wild deer. There is also table tennis, skittles, a pool table and lots of children’s play equipment. We also have a large field on which impromptu games of football, cricket and rounders are played, a zip wire, an adventure course and just a two minute walk from Yurtcamp is our club size all-weather tennis court. There is also plenty to do in the local area with Dartmoor on our doorstep and the South Hams with its wonderful beaches just a short drive away.
We are situated midway between Exeter and Plymouth in the foothills of Dartmoor, close to the South Hams and the beautiful English Riviera offering Blue Flag beaches at Dawlish, Teignmouth, Torquay and Paignton. There are also many tourist attractions around to satisfy all tastes from culture to history and the all- important days out for the children. Attractions such as Becky Falls, River Dart Country Park, Pennywell Farm and Woodlands Leisure Park are all close at hand. Torquay is less than ten miles away and the cities of Exeter and Plymouth are a short drive for those seeking major city attractions.
